Yoga therapy is a healing modality that works to empower individuals towards health and well-being through the application of and philosophy of yoga. By incorporating breathing techniques, meditation, imagery, and yoga postures for the individual, yoga therapy addresses your specific needs.
After years of teaching group and private yoga classes I began my yoga therapy training at the Daya Foundation, an accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists, with local practitioner Sarahjoy Marsh. With my background in domestic violence counseling and emergency response, I gravitated toward the field of yoga therapy since it facilitates a whole-being approach to healing.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN A YOGA THERAPY SESSION.
A yoga therapy session begins with a discussion about what is currently an issue for you. For some people they may come to see me for persistent low back pain while a new mother may be struggling with depression, overwhelm, and feelings of living in a stranger’s body.
Through yoga postures, breath techniques, and mindfulness tools, I will tailor the practice to your specific needs to facilitate your healing process.
